Sunflowers are beautiful, sunny flowers that are a joy to draw. They are relatively easy to draw, even for beginners, and can be a great way to add some color and cheer to your artwork. In this tutorial, we will show you how to draw a sunflower in six easy steps.

Materials

  • Pencil
  • Paper
  • Eraser
  • Ruler (optional)
  • Compass (optional)

Step 1: Draw the Stem

  1. Start by drawing a vertical line for the stem.
  2. Use a ruler or compass to draw a circle at the bottom of the stem. This will be the base of the flower.

Step 2: Draw the Petals

  1. Draw a series of overlapping ovals around the base of the flower. These will be the petals.
  2. Vary the size and shape of the petals to create a more natural look.
  3. Use a pencil to sketch in the veins of the petals.

Step 3: Draw the Center

  1. Draw a small circle in the center of the flower. This will be the center of the sunflower.
  2. Use a pencil to sketch in the seeds of the sunflower.

Step 4: Add Details

  1. Draw a few small circles around the center of the flower. These will be the pollen.
  2. Add a few lines to the stem to create some texture.
  3. Erase any unnecessary lines.

Step 5: Color the Sunflower

  1. Use yellow paint to color the petals of the sunflower.
  2. Use brown paint to color the center of the sunflower.
  3. Use green paint to color the stem and leaves.

Step 6: Finish the Drawing

  1. Once the paint has dried, add some white paint to the center of the flower to create the pollen.
  2. Use a black pen to outline the flower and add some final details.
  3. Your sunflower drawing is now complete!

Here are some additional tips for drawing sunflowers:

  • Sunflowers come in a variety of sizes, so feel free to experiment with different proportions.
  • Sunflowers can have different numbers of petals, so don't worry about getting it perfect.
  • Sunflowers often have a spiral pattern in their petals, so try to incorporate this into your drawing.
  • Sunflowers are a great subject for practicing your shading and blending techniques.
  • With a little practice, you'll be able to draw beautiful sunflowers in no time!
